vodacom

As digitalised as the world is fast becoming, Vodacom has introduced Internet of Things (IoT). This innovation according to Tony Smallworld, Vodacom’s Executive Head of IoT applications, is directed towards driving digital information, and helping businesses to remain relevant in today’s digital world.

On how this dream will be achieved, Smallworld revealed that they have an ecosystem of partners whose specialty is the integration of specific aspects of IoT and are very knowlegeable of the their respective industries. He promises that with the collaboration of their partners, they are able to deliver effectively and efficiently.

Vodacom’s IoT is basically built for business. It is developed with the purpose of driving the success of businesses. The vision is to create a connection through the internet for all business-types and their owners. This solution touches every part of business – consumer goods, finance, agriculture, manufacturing, health and all others. It also helps to keep businesses in control and reduce costs across all operational levels.

According to Wikipedia, The internet of things (IoT) is the internetworking of physical devices, vehicles, buildings and other items—embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity that enable these objects to collect and exchange data. It also goes ahead to explain that The IoT allows objects to be sensed and/or controlled remotely across existing network infrastructure, creating opportunities for more direct integration of the physical world into computer-based systems, and resulting in improved efficiency, accuracy and economic benefit.
