Infinix Note 3 X601 Review, Price and Specifications
5

The Infinix Note 3 is a smartphone that was launched at a critical time in the Nigerian phone market; competition has become rife among the OEMs as players were jostling hard to win over the heart of Nigerians. With each hone launch came a new promise; a new reason posited for customers to patronize their products. Infinix themselves had just launched a Hot S a few weeks back and other OEMs had not been resting on their oars, so when the Note 3 dropped, it was to a very populated market, However, the Note 3 still managed to garner much attention as a premium phone with a good promise. Here, Gadgets Review’s Adugba Saviour takes you through a review of the famed phone.

Too busy to read through? You can watch our Infinix Note 3 X601 Review Video below:

DISPLAY

The Infinix Note 3 is 6.0″ Full high definition phone that uses a graphic processing unit called the ARM Mali T720 to bring a cool display to users. The Wide screen has a huge aesthetic quality especially for mobile gamers and people that like watching movies on their smartphones. The screen resolution is 1080 x 1920 pixels with a density of 480 dpi(dots per inch).

DESIGN

Infinix Note 3 has a slim and stylish build with metallic body which gives a premium look. The  Infinix Note 3 measures  161.5 x 81.5 x 8.4 mm in dimension and weighs up to 200 grams which might sound a bit  a heavy to some folks but it really is not, at least when i held it. Like we mentioned earlier, the screen size like the Infinix Note 3 and Infinix Note 2 is 6.0 inches but unlike it’s counterparts, the Note 3 has FHD IPS display.

MEMORY

The infinix Note 3 comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM that allows for good amount of space to store files as well a good memory base for the phone to function fluidly without hitches while multitasking. To be fair, the 16GB is good enough for one to store files and considering the fact that you can use memory cards up to the size of 128GB, it is fair enough to say that the memory capacity is not bad at all. When the phone was put to test with most of the preloaded apps the phone did not “hang” which means that the RAM size is good enough. Moreso, the Infinix Note 3 unlike many of it’s equals comes with a different tray for the external SD card; which means you don’t have sacrifice one SIM card to accommodate your SD card.

CAMERA

The rear Camera is a 13 Megapixels camera that comes with dual LED flash light and autofocus. The front or “selfie” camera is a 5 megapixels with LED flash light. You have the opportunity of taking your pictures in different mode which include beauty mode, professional mode, normal mode, panorama mode, night mode and PIP MODE The camera when put to test looked good to me; the images looked clear and crisp. The front camera did not also disappoint me as it looked better than a couple of phones that claim to have an 8MP front camera (I am not taking shots at anybody)

NETWORK/CONNECTIVITY

Infinix Note supports 3G and dual SIM option. It also supports 802.11 b/n/g band, tethering & hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth v4.0 and microUSB port for  connecting with other devices through data cable

BATTERY

It comes with a 4500 mAh battery which is actually necessary by all means. This is so because the Note 3 comes with a huge screen that utilizes large display hence packing in a small battery would have been akin to Infinix shooting themselves in the leg. The phone also claims to support fast charger; we verified this by doing the battery test against another smartphone which we are going to term “phone s”. After five minutes the Note 3 added 12 percent while the “phone s” had not managed to add one more percent (quite unbelievable if you ask me)

OS/INTERFACE

The Infinix Note 3 runs the Android 6.0 marshmallow out of box based on Infinix’s in-house XOS chameleon. The interface of the phone looks quite attractive with the pre-installed apps well arranged on the home screen. The XOS interface comes with some pre-installed X-themed apps such as Xtheme, Xclub, Xshare etc.

PROCESSOR

Infinix utilizes  1.3 GHz octa-core processor in the Note 3 alongside  an MT6753 chipset. The architecture of the processor is 64 bit supported. The RAM and the processor combine efficiently to deliver a hitch-free operation to the phone.

FINGERPRINT SCANNER

infinix note 3 x601 review

The Fingerprint scanner is located below the rear camera and the dual LED flashlight. The Fingerprint allows five unique fingerprints to be added and it is a good security feature, The fingerprint can also be used as a button to take your pictures and it comes in very handy when one is taking a selfie. When we tried having a go at the fingerprint scanner, its responsiveness was quite fast.

ACCESSORIES

The Note 3 comes with the standard accessories for a smartphone; these include a charger, a data(USB) cable and an earbud. Other accessories include a screen protector, a tray pin and of course, the manual. The accessories look pretty standard; it packs in the same accessories that came with the Hot S exempting the screen protector of course.

THE VERDICT

The Infinix Note 3 has a lot of promise as we mentioned earlier. The con that quickly meets the eyes is that the phone is quite big for people that prefer very portable devices. But for people who love large screens this phone is simply delicious! the specs and performance is smooth if you ask me. The responsiveness of the screen and the fingerprint scanner is top notch but the camera is a bit average when used in low light  but that does not make it bad at all. The battery also is a huge selling point for me; 4500mAh with intelligent power saving is fantastic for me. The pros simply outweighs the cons and if you already contemplated buying the phone, you should do so. The infinix note 3 is affordable and available on popular online platforms like konga, jumia.

Am impressed with the clear pictures of the infinx. Still a Midrange device tho. Wondering why they still inculcated 2Gb RAM into it. The battery size got my attention.

It’s big and massive. 6.0 not my ideal screen size. Poor camera. I like the octacore processor becos I multitask like hell. But honestly, I won’t spend my dine on this. It’s a NO for me.

Wow! Great review. This phone packs a punch! As a matter of fact, it’s making me thinking of selling the “phone s” I’m using right now and add some money and use it to purchase this Note 3.
