Google’s Connected Consumer Survey is a platform under the Think with Google initiative that provides key insights about audiences, consumer trends and technology shifts in the market.
Not only did the latest report reveal the percentage of people who use Smartphones in Nigeria, it also revealed the Internet penetration in the country as well as other insights. According to the study, only 23% of Nigerians use computers in 2017. Google has announced a major new development, which will provide a major boost to African entrepreneurs by announcing the introduction of Google developers Launchpad to Africa. In line with the commitment Google CEO Sundar Pichai made to support African entrepreneurs earlier this year, Google has officially announced Google Developers Launchpad Africa, the new hands-on comprehensive mentorship program tailored exclusively to startups based in Africa. Google launched a report conducted by research group Alpha Beta on the economic impact of geospatial services in Nigeria. The study shows that digital geospatial tools like Maps are making positive economic contributions around the globe to employment, emergency response and time management. The Economic Impact of Geospatial Services report shows that digital maps reduce travel time in Nigeria by an average of 8%, saving some ₦190 billion (US $748 million) based on local wages. Nigerians value digital maps at ₦22,131.00 per year – translating into ₦1781 billion per year for all users.
