CHECK OUT A BRIEF VIDEO INSIGTH TO THE SAMSUNG GALAXY A5 2017

Samsung Galaxy A5 2017

Samsung Galaxy A5 2017

The Samsung Galaxy A5 is a midrange offering from Smartphone giants Samsung Mobile that embodies class, beauty and convenience. Crafted with what I’d like to refer to as “Near-perfect proportions” the Galaxy A5 2017 will comfortably rub shoulders with any phone in terms of the build and design. However, we are well aware that designs and build are important, but they don;t make a phone. Let’s dig deep and find out if the phone delivers on its promises.

DISPLAY OF THE SAMSUNG GALAXY A5 2017

Display of the Samsung Galaxy A5 2017

When we tested it, the display of the Galaxy A5 2017 seemed to be of very high quality. Spotting a characteristic AMOLED display, The Galaxy A5 showed deep display and rich colours when we put it to use. At the price range at which the Galaxy A5 2017 is been offered, we would like to think that the display is good enough. The “Adaptive display” settings that comes with the phone by default was the display setting that we enjoyed the most.

We have sadly become accustomed to companies ridiculously reducing specifications of phones and bundling them into smaller devices to sell as midrange devices. However, and thankfully, the Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 (whoop! that name is a mouthful) goes against this trend by providing mouth-watering specs. The A5 2017 has a rear camera that boasts a 16MP sensor with an aperture size of f/1.9 which in layman terms really means that you can capture great pictures and you don’t have to worry too much about low light. Samsung also left a 16MP shooter in charge of the selfies which is great for snap and live video lovers. The video does not support 4k recording, but generally does well for a phone at its price range.

In all, the camera of the Samsung A5 2017 is okay and the camera app makes it quite easy to take your pictures. The pictures typically come out with nice colour accuracy.

USB AND CHARGING

The Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 uses a USB type C

The Samsung Galaxy A5 comes with a USB type C which is different from the USB 2.0 that we have all grown accustomed to in Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana. The Phone supports fast charging (and comes with a charger that is primed for this). When we put the fast charging feature to test, the phone added about 10 percent in 5 minutes. Keep in mind that we charged by plugging in a USB cable to a laptop (the charger plug that came with the review unit wasn’t working).

OPERATING SYSTEM AND CHIP OF THE SAMSUNG GALAXY A5 2017

Samsung Galaxy A5 2017

At first, I was disappointed when I found out that the Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 was launched with Android 6.1 but when I checked it features I became more relaxed seeing that the phone is optimised for an Android Nougat experience. Therefore, we might be looking an update to Android Nougat pretty soon. On the performance side, an Octa-core Exynos 7880 CPU is left in charge of things. When we had the phone to test, the performance was pretty standard. I personally experienced no lag while operating the phone and the response rate was sharp.

PRICING OF THE SAMSUNG GALAXY A5 2017

I know that a couple of people might berate me for calling this phone a midrange phone,  but that is what it really is. High-end phones like the iPhone 7 Or the Samsung S7 costs a lot more than this. SO even though the price is still a lot of money, this phone still falls into the mid-range category. The phone costs about 167,000 Naira in Nigeria, in Kenya the device costs about 28,oo0 Ksh

PROS OF THE SAMSUNG GALAXY A5 2017

The phone has a good design

The camera shoots high-quality pictures

Supports fast charge

CONS OF THE SAMSUNG GALAXY A5 2017

It’s a bit pricey

It uses Android 6.1 operating system

SHOULD YOU BUY THE SAMSUNG GALAXY A5 2017?

My answer to that will be a resounding yes. The phone packs in specs that can comfortably sit in a high-end phone. The pros also outweigh the cons by a wide margin.
